Under the hood.
A closer look at the sensor system, accuracy targets, and clinical-grade data integrity built into every Impulse insole.
Sensing Hardware
Pressure sensorFSR402 array · 4-zone plantar coverage
Motion sensor (IMU)BNO085 · 9-DOF accel + gyro + orientation
Sample rate50Hz continuous
ADC resolution12-bit · 0–20 N/cm²
Sensor anchor methodPatent-pending heel cup + toe stop
The mechanical anchor is why Impulse data is trustworthy. A sensor that slides inside the shoe produces corrupted readings under lateral cut forces. Ours doesn't move.
Connectivity & Power
Wireless protocolBluetooth 5.0 BLE · GATT service
Transmission latency<100ms end-to-end
Gym range≥20m line-of-sight
Battery life8+ hours continuous · LiPo 3.7V
ChargingInductive (Qi) — no removal from shoe
Covers a full practice day on a single charge. Inductive charging means players drop the shoe on a pad — no pulling the insole out, no cables, no forgotten charging.
Alert Thresholds (Trainer-Configurable)
Asymmetry threshold (yellow)>15% L/R load deviation
Asymmetry threshold (red)>25% L/R sustained over 10 contacts
Ground contact drift>15% vs. session baseline
Peak load flagConfigurable per player history
Alert deliveryVisual + audible on sideline dashboard
Thresholds are set per player based on baseline sessions. A player with a prior ankle injury can have a tighter red threshold — so the same alert means different things for different athletes.
Physical & Durability
Stack height≤4mm total profile
SubstrateFlex PCB · polyimide base
Moisture protectionIP54 · conformal coating
SealingHeat-welded perimeter · TPU anti-slip base
SizingS / M / L — fits any basketball shoe
Built for the sweat, shear force, and compression of full practice conditions. Players will not notice it is there — confirmed in every early wear test.
